Youth Programs

For all youth recreational leagues and programs, emphasis is placed on skill development, participation, sportsmanship, and most of all, kids having fun! Activities are designed for pure enjoyment and skill development. At the Worcester County Department of Recreation & Parks emphasis is placed on participation and positive sportsmanship.

The After School Canoe program will give participants the opportunity to learn about our local watershed as well as experience multiple canoeing adventures on the Pocomoke River.

The After School Cheerleading program will introduce participants to cheerleading in a fun and noncompetitive manner.  This will allow participants the opportunity to learn cheerleading without the pressure of having to try out for a team.  There will be no "team" formed from this class.  Basic tumbling and cheer skills will be taught.

After School Dodgeball will give children the opportunity to play the traditional dodgeball game along with some other fun versions. Games will test players' abilities to throw, catch, dodge, and out maneuver their opponents.

After School Tennis is created to provide children the opportunity to get exercise while learning the fundamentals of tennis. Children will then learn to apply their skills to tennis drills and games.
